Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Clara.

What is Clara?

Clara is a clinical documentation tool designed exclusively for psychologists and psychotherapists in private practice. It accompanies therapy sessions and writes structured clinical notes adapted to your therapeutic orientation, so you can focus on being present with your patients.

What therapeutic orientations does Clara work with?

Clara adapts its clinical notes to the therapist's therapeutic orientation. Available orientations include: cognitive-behavioral (CBT), ACT, EMDR, psychodynamic/psychoanalytic, humanistic/person-centered, Gestalt, systemic/family therapy, strategic brief therapy, solution-focused (SFBT), constructivist/narrative, Schema Therapy, IFS, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mentalization-based therapy (MBT), and integrative/eclectic. You can also type your own orientation. If you choose integrative/eclectic, Clara lets you select up to 3 orientations you combine in your practice, and adapts notes to the vocabulary of each. The therapist sets it once in their profile and all notes reflect their clinical language.

Is Clara GDPR compliant?

Yes. Clara is designed for the GDPR context. Clinical data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and primary infrastructure is hosted in the EU. Contracted service providers process only what is needed to deliver the service and remain bound by data-protection obligations. Clara does not use clinical data to train AI models, and clinicians retain ownership of their content.

How does Clara work during a therapy session?

Clara works directly in the browser, with no extensions or extra devices needed. The therapist opens Clara before the session and it discreetly accompanies the conversation. After the session, Clara generates structured clinical notes adapted to their therapeutic orientation. The therapist reviews, adjusts if needed, and marks the session as reviewed.

Does Clara store session audio?

Yes, within clear limits. Session audio may be stored securely on the server for up to 14 days after processing and is then deleted. If a browser recording is interrupted, a local recovery copy may remain on the clinician's device for up to 7 days, or be removed sooner after recovery or manual deletion. Transcripts and notes remain under the clinician's control.

How much does Clara cost?

Clara offers three paid plans: Essential (€19.99/month), Professional (€29.99/month), and Expert (€49.99/month). Yearly billing is priced at 10 months, and every account starts with a Clara-managed one-month Expert trial before you choose a paid plan.

What makes Clara different from other clinical note software?

Clara is designed exclusively for psychologists and psychotherapists in Spain, not adapted from generic medical software. What sets it apart: adapts notes to your therapeutic orientation (CBT, systemic, psychodynamic, humanistic, and 11 more); clinical memory that connects sessions by recognizing patterns and recurring themes; works directly in the browser with no extensions; native Spanish and Catalan experience; built-in GDPR compliance with no setup; and never uses your clinical data to train AI models.

Can I use Clara for online therapy?

Yes. Clara works for both in-person and online sessions. For in-person sessions, Clara accompanies from the browser. For telehealth sessions, Clara can accompany the conversation directly. No extra installation needed.

Is it safe to use AI for clinical notes?

From a clinical perspective, Clara generates a draft that you review and adjust before marking the session as reviewed. Clinical decisions remain yours, and Clara does not make decisions or offer therapeutic recommendations. From a security perspective, data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Contracted service providers process only what is needed to deliver the service, and Clara does not use your clinical content to train AI models.

Do I need patient consent to use Clara?

Yes. As with any tool that processes clinical data, you need to inform your patients and obtain their consent. Clara includes digital consent forms you can adapt to your practice, with automatic acceptance tracking.

Can I edit the notes Clara generates?

Always. Clara generates a draft that you can review and adjust. You can modify any field, add observations, or rewrite entire sections. When the record represents your work, you can mark the session as reviewed. The notes are yours, and final clinical judgment always remains yours.

Can I try Clara for free?

Yes. Every account starts with a Clara-managed one-month Expert trial with no credit card required. You can explore the full product first and only choose a paid plan when you're ready.

Does Clara work on mobile?

Clara works in any modern browser, including mobile and tablet. No app download needed. Many psychologists use Clara from their computer during sessions and review notes afterward from their phone.

Does Clara work with Zoom, Google Meet, or other video call platforms?

Yes. For telehealth sessions, Clara can accompany the conversation by accessing the audio from the browser tab where you have the video call. It's compatible with any platform that runs in the browser: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and others.
